Remembering Harold Ramis, 1944-2014

Sad to hear the news of Harold Ramis passing away Monday at the age of 69.

DV Dude first came to know him watching SCTV as a kid. Ramis was the head writer at the beginning, before leaving for Hollywood to co-write "Animal House."

Ramis was heavily involved in so many classic comedy films as a writer, performer and director, and DV Dude's favourite Harold Ramis films were "Groundhog Day" and "Analyze This."

The clip above is from the early days of SCTV, where Mo Green is taking calls from viewers.

Based on the postings from people he worked with, he was universally regarded as a nice guy who knew his comedy. And for the younger generation, he was an inspiration. As Bill Murray said, "He earned his keep on this planet." Ivan Reitman said, "He was very generous about making everyone
around him look better and smarter." I'll give the last words to Robert DeNiro, who said "He was a warm, sweet gentle and kind man. I greatly enjoyed working with him, and he shall be missed."
